The Milwaukee 2020 Host Committee is a civic organization dedicated to ensuring that the 2020 Democratic National Convention makes a positive impact on the City of Milwaukee and surrounding communities. We are committed to hosting and funding the most diverse, accessible, engaging, and inclusive Convention in the nation’s history - while making a lasting, positive impact on Milwaukee and the surrounding region.
We are currently accepting applications for the Fall 2019 Internship term. Interning with the Milwaukee 2020 Host Committee is a unique opportunity for hardworking, passionate future leaders to gain real life, hands-on experience with what is required to put on a large party convention. It’s also a great way to form lasting connections and memories. In addition to typical intern duties you will have the chance to volunteer on community outreach projects, assist at Host Committee functions leading up to and during the Democratic Convention, participate in activities across Milwaukee, WI and participate in some departmental meetings. Each department offers a unique learning experience.
Community Engagement Department
The Engagement and Opportunity Department is a small team of community engagement and volunteer professionals responsible for helping to coordinate all the community outreach and volunteer recruitment leading up to and during the 2020 Democratic National Convention. We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual who is passionate about building strong communities.
Community outreach and planning including but not limited to researching community events and stakeholders, maintaining an inventory of outreach activities, and assisting with drafting briefings and other reports.
Provide support for volunteer engagement and events.
Contact community partners to promote Host Committee engagement opportunities and perform follow up and surveying as needed.
Working in collaboration with other Host Committee teams to execute community initiatives.
Assist engagement team with programs, including program development, execution and optimization.
Other duties as assigned.
Ideal candidates will possess excellent written and oral communication skills and will have a proven ability to work quickly to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects at once.
Term: Mid-October 2019 - Late December 2019
