ENGAGEMENT LEADER

At the Milwaukee 2020 Host Committee, we are committed  to hosting and funding the most diverse, accessible, engaging, and inclusive Convention in the nation’s history - while making a lasting, positive impact on Milwaukee and the surrounding region. 

 

The Engagement and Opportunity Team is looking for talented people-from all backgrounds - who are passionate about bringing people together to serve as Community Engagement Leaders for the upcoming 2020 Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee. Community Engagement Leaders (CELs) work with specific segments of the community with whom they have extensive local networks, experience, and deep relationships. CELs are responsible for developing strategies and conducting outreach to their constituent groups, including but not limited to businesses, civic groups, religious bodies, community organizations and individuals, to encourage participation in the hosting of the 2020 Democratic National Convention. The ideal candidate for the CEL position will have an extensive background in building coalitions, and experience developing and implementing effective outreach plans.

 

CELs will report to the Vice President of Engagement and Opportunity and/or their designee.  

 

This is a full-time position based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin through July 31, 2020.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Engagement and Opportunity and Vice President of Diversity, Vendor Accountability and Growth, to develop, execute, and track the outreach, and engagement strategy for a population-specific approach to reach local officials, activists, organizations and businesses, and other key stakeholders that make up their coalition group. (25%)

  • Maintain and develop relationships with key leadership from major organizations and businesses; serve as point of contact for community leaders and stakeholders at events, organize coalition meetings, present on stakeholder conference calls, etc. (25%)

  • Coordinate with the Volunteer Manager to (a) facilitate the volunteer recruitment strategy, (b) ensure that effective outreach strategies are implemented, and (c) develop ways to increase volunteer participation among your coalition group (25%) 

  • In conjunction with our communications team, create and implement external communications and timelines to educate and provide Committee information to stakeholders, coalitions, and local officials where appropriate; including correspondence, social media engagement, and other in-person engagement with partners. (15%)

  • Coordinate analysis and feedback, resulting in the preparation and development of memos and briefings for events, where appropriate. (10%)

  • Have demonstrated ability to navigate conflict and work toward resolution required.

  • Be proficient in basic computer applications, such as word, excel, google suite, and internet usage.
