Democratic National Convention Moved to August in Response to Unprecedented Coronavirus Outbreak
Dear Milwaukee Community, Over the past month, our team—in partnership with the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC)—has been closely following the unfolding public health crisis here in Milwaukee, across the nation, and around the world, as we have continued to put plans in place to host a successful convention.
The health and well-being of the Milwaukee community and all convention guests has always been—and will always remain—our top priority. That’s why the DNCC has announced that the 2020 Democratic National Convention will now be held during the week of August 17, here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their full press release can be found here. This decision will give everyone involved more time to monitor the impact of COVID-19 and plan a convention that highlights and showcases all that our city has to offer. In the coming months, we will remain in constant communication with local, state, and federal public health and safety officials, and we will continue to follow their guidance as we determine what a safe and successful convention will look like in August. During this difficult time, we especially want to share our gratitude with the Milwaukee community for your essential partnership in helping us host this historic event. We look forward to sharing additional details in the coming weeks and months. Until then, stay safe and take care of one another. Sincerely, Milwaukee 2020 Host Committee
